The Road Traffic Unit is comitted to reducing the number of traffic related deaths, injuries and crimes on Altis roads. They work around the clock to keep you and your loved ones safe when travelling by road vehicles on Altis. Officers of this constabulary will mostly be found patrolling the highway between Kavala and Athira, but can also be found patrolling the backroads. They do not have any specific base station like the other constabularies, but operates from all police stations.

Responsibilities

The Road Traffic Units mandate is to enforce the Road Traffic Act of 1988. Common crimes that RTU may have to deal with is:

Equipment

Proud RTU officers showing of their uniform and vehicles

Vehicles

Due to the nature of this constabulary, any officers employed by the Road Traffic Unit recieves access to the Hatchback Sport, which other officers will recieve at the rank of Sergeant. The Hatchback Sport is a crucial asset in the fight against road-related crimes.

The Road Traffic Unit also has gets access to unmarked SUV's or Hatchback Sports.

Uniform

The Road Traffic Unit is the only constabulary with their own uniform. When doing work on or around the highway, visibility is key, therefore they recieve their special high-vis coat. For extra safety they also gets special access to the Carrier Lite vest. This uniform is always to be worn when on a Road Traffic Unit patrol, and is also issued to non-RTU guests.

Sub-sections

Training Team

The training team is responsible for ensuring all officers who attempt to join our constabulary are the right fit. They are a set of highly specialised drivers and are rewarded strongly for their commitment to RTU.

They are also responsible for monitoring the driving of other officers throughout the island to ensure that their driving is safe and providing corrective measures in the form of an Road Traffic Safety Course (RTSC) where appropriate. Depending on the circumstances you could either get a straight up RTSC or just a warning point towards one. There are two types of RTSC you can get, these can be seen as follows:

Road Traffic Safety Course

  • Hatchback Sport RTSC: Prevents the receiving officer from driving a hatchback sport until they have completed the safety course.
  • SUV RTSC: Prevents the receiving officer from driving any land vehicle until the safety course has been completed.

Unmarked Vehicle Officers

Unmarked vehicle officers are an essential tool for RTU to help catch Road Traffic Law violators. Unmarked vehicle officers will often lie in hiding where they are least expected and wait for traffic violators or anyone wanted by the Altis Police Service to drive past before quickly giving pursuit. It is a limited role being an unmarked authorised officer and as such it is only available to RTU INS+ or members of the RTU training team.

History

The RTU was reformed at the start of 2037 after being disbanded towards the start of 2036
